MIITTI NGO – With a vision to achieve overall development of villages in rural interiors of Rajasthan, India, a team of scholars from India’s top technical university, IIT Bombay, have taken up a challenge to implement their innovative ideas. Miitti, a non-profit NGO established in year 2014, target four key verticals viz. Education, Employment, Agriculture, and Sports by adopting a village and staying and blending with the children and youth during their gram camps/workshops/counseling.
Miitti NGO – Journey Begins
Started in December 2014, the NGO organized a career counseling workshop in the villages near Keshorai Patan town of Bundi, Rajasthan. The event was conducted in the government school where senior academicians and administrators interacted and guided over 400 children by sharing their experience and success mantras to motivate and guide our young generation. The event was funded by Indira Foundation (IIT Bombay alumnus chapter) During summer of 2015, the team conducted gram camp cum workshop in Barana Village (Bundi, Rajasthan).
In these five days integrated camp, the children/youth got an opportunity to work on several educational projects in line with the CBSE school’s syllabus. The NGO also organized sports like kabaddi and football in the schools with the help of school’s administration and physical education teachers. The children also showed immense creativity by taking up arts and crafts projects and participating in several group activities. Meanwhile, Miitti team has been intensively involved in versatile projects towards rural development objective. Time to time visits to the adarsh grams, social leaders, national events always been the key ingredient for various project progress and execution.
Har-Hath-Ek-Kitab (हर हाथ एक किताब )
Recently, MIITI has also tied up with leading e-commerce company (Snapdeal) to support their ‘Har-Hath-Ek-Kitab’ campaign where new books will be distributed to the children to inculcate reading habits amongst them to prosper the right to education. Team Miitti is very excited about it’s few of new upcoming projects, in the rural tourism and another one in youth leadership training program via interactive documentaries. Currently, in their continued efforts to overcome the issue of unaccessible basic opportunities, Miitti has recent plans to organize another gram camp cum workshop, Sambhariya village situated on Jaipur-Agra highway will be the hub of Gram camp from 29th June – 2nd July 2017. A lot of exciting events with educational and extracurricular content are already set-up in the camp.
